Type 630 steel plates is type 630 martensitic stainless steel that uses niobium. Type 630 steel plates should not be used at temperatures above 300 degrees celsius and for cryogenic service. It finds application in gate valves and nuclear waste processing. Type 630 steel plates as mentioned, produces the highest strength when heat treated in the 900 Fahrenheit. It is magnetic and easily welded for fabrication. It supports aging treatments I.e Conditions H900, H1025, and H1150D. The standardized asme sa 693 type 630 Hot Rolled Plate has a density of 7.75 g/cm3 and a specific heat capacity of 460 J/kg Celsius.

It gives minimum ultimate tensile strength of 1170 MPa when hardened using heat treatment at 496 Celsius and air-cooled. Its equivalent W. NR. 1.4542 Perforated Sheet has a melting range of 1404 to 1440 Celsius and modulus of elasticity of 196 GPa. It has a minimum yield strength of 790 MPa when hardened at 593 Celsius. It is subject to brittle fractures.
